Hope to Heal Lyme was founded with a deep and moving passion to find HOPE and treatment options on how to recover from Lyme disease. Hope to Heal Lyme’s mission is to create and manage patient-oriented Lyme disease conferences. These patient conferences are organized to present information from Lyme literate physicians on how to treat and heal the body while battling Lyme.

Hope to Heal Lyme, Inc. is a grassroots effort solely run by Charlotte (Char) Healy, a Lyme disease survivor, who also founded the Western Loudoun Lyme Disease Support Group in Purcellville, VA. This support group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at St. Peters Church. Everyone is welcome!

Charlotte was told she had Fibromyalgia and other escalating health issues, which built over the course of six years. In January of 2004, she became seriously ill. Fortunately, on March 27, 2004, Dr. John Hart of Sterling, VA correctly diagnosed her with Chronic Lyme Disease. After 17 months on antibiotics such as IV Rocephin and other antibiotic combination therapies, coupled with the best of alternative medicine such as reiki, acupuncture, chinese herbs, massage therapy, infrared lamp sauna therapy and tailored nutritional supplements, Charlotte is now doing well.

Prior to Lyme disease, Charlotte's professional background was in conference planning, training, and human resources management. Now, as a Lyme patient advocate, she continues to strive to bring together Lyme literate physicians and practitioners with those who are struggling with Lyme disease.

Karl Fisher's experiences with support groups:

Be leery of Lyme disease support groups. Some support groups seem not to be looking out for your best interest & are selling information for profit that is not 100% correct in my opinion!!! There are ever changing theories by traditional doctors & researchers on the disease. Each treatment that you read about or use may be beneficial, depending on the individual & what stage the infection is in. Every person is affected by the disease differently. Most treatments only treat the infections caused by the disease & not the bacterium it’s self. The bacterium has a unique way of protecting its self by encapsulating its self when it feels like it is being attacked. This process can happen in as little as 1 minute & it can stay in this form possibly up to years. In my opinion there may never be a cure but only treatments to reduce the effects on the body.  I have never heard of anyone being cured from Lyme Disease with antibiotics alone because everyone I have talked to has had relapses up to years latter after believing they have been cured.

Good Luck & be careful
